Simplify your query experience with integrated examples
Run thousands of SQL query examples and dive deeper into schemas and column definitions.

The built-in query editor in Turbot Pipes provides the fastest way to answer questions about your cloud environments. Powered by Steampipe under the hood, it offers an accessible experience where teams can explore cloud data interactively in the console, leverage shared connections, schedule recurring checks, and save point-in-time results to share with colleagues.
Our latest update transforms the query experience with enhanced schema navigation, integrated documentation, and access to thousands of query examples. These improvements make finding and running the right queries more intuitive, helping teams get answers faster with less effort. Let's dive into what's new.
Query explorer
The new Query Explorer tab brings together your query history and thousands of pre-built examples from the documentation, making it easier than ever to find and run queries.
Query history
The history section gives you access to your recent queries in one place. You can search through past queries to find specific examples, and quickly rerun them with a single click. This history makes it easier to build on your previous work and maintain continuity across query sessions.
Pre-built query examples
We've integrated thousands of ready-to-use query examples from the Steampipe Hub directly into Pipes. You can now browse thousands of pre-built SQL queries organized by plugin, search for specific use cases or data points, and select and run examples with a single click. These examples serve as excellent starting points that you can modify to suit your specific needs, significantly reducing the time it takes to get answers from your data.
Schema explorer improvements
The schema explorer has been redesigned to make it easier to navigate and understand your connections and available tables.
Simplified connection view
For organizations with many connections, we've added the ability to hide or show aggregated connections, significantly simplifying the connections list for large environments. This reduces complexity by allowing you to collapse per-connection schemas into their aggregated views, giving you a cleaner interface to work with.
Embedded documentation at your fingertips
The schema explorer now integrates documentation directly from the Steampipe Hub.
Hover over your tables to see table descriptions and discover related query examples, giving you instant context about what data is available and how to use it:
Expand your tables to view the columns and their descriptions. Each column includes detailed information about its purpose, data type, and usage.
By integrating documentation directly into the interface, the query experience becomes more intuitive and self-contained, minimizing the need to switch between Pipes and external documentation.
Enhanced search capabilities
Finding the right connections, schemas, or columns is now much easier with our new search functionality. You can filter connections and schemas to quickly locate what you need, search for specific columns across all your connections, and find relevant data points instantly, even in complex environments. This search capability significantly reduces the time spent navigating through large schema hierarchies.
Developers tab
The new Developers tab in Pipes makes provides you with all the necessary connection and configuration information to connect to your Pipes workspace via a database connection string, the Steampipe CLI, or the Postgres CLI.
