Launch Week 10 is a wrap!
TL;DR? We've got you covered.
TL;DR? We've got you covered.
Our announcements this week span the breadth of Turbot offerings:
Tailpipe
Tailpipe's next evolution: Building on DuckLake
Tailpipe now leverages DuckLake, DuckDB's cutting-edge lakehouse format, delivering dramatic query performance improvements while setting the foundation for cloud-scale log analysis. The migration from raw Parquet files provides smarter partitioning, 700x reduction in file operations for time-range queries, and eliminates the need for separate date columns. This architectural shift prepares Tailpipe for integration into Turbot Pipes with concurrent write capabilities, schema evolution, and intelligent caching strategies.
Explore Azure cost management with Tailpipe
The Azure plugin for Tailpipe now includes dedicated tables for cost and usage analysis through Azure Cost and Usage Actual exports. Combined with the new Azure Cost and Usage Insights Mod for Powerpipe, teams can generate visual insights into spending patterns across subscriptions, services, and resource groups. This expands Tailpipe beyond security monitoring into comprehensive FinOps analysis for Azure environments.
Analyze GCP billing data with Tailpipe
Similar capabilities extend to Google Cloud with the GCP plugin now supporting BigQuery billing export analysis. The accompanying GCP Cost and Usage Insights Mod for Powerpipe provides comprehensive dashboards for spending trends across services, projects, and labels. Teams can now use familiar SQL queries to understand and optimize their GCP expenditures alongside their security investigations.
Turbot Pipes
Introducing Service Accounts for Turbot Pipes
Service Accounts provide secure programmatic access for automation workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and integrations without tying credentials to individual users. These specialized, non-human identities ensure automations continue running regardless of team changes while maintaining proper access controls and audit trails. Service Accounts enable Infrastructure as Code deployments, automated user provisioning, and pipeline automation with dedicated tokens and granular permissions.
Enhanced Enterprise Controls for Turbot Pipes
New enterprise security features give administrators granular control over authentication, access management, and workspace configuration. Session timeout management provides separate controls for browser and CLI sessions, enhanced token management includes custom titles and expiration dates, and workspace restrictions enable control over personal workspace creation and PostgreSQL endpoint access. These features address key compliance and governance requirements for enterprise deployments.
Pipes Compute Usage Drops 75% with Smarter Rate Limits
Custom Steampipe rate limiters for high-volume IAM tables have reduced compute usage by 60-75% while improving overall performance. By pacing requests intelligently to avoid AWS throttling, Pipes achieves faster refresh jobs with fewer retries. The optimization, initially developed for enterprise scale challenges, benefits all customers with lower costs, improved performance, and greater scalability.
Turbot Pipes + AI
Chat with your cloud
Pipes introduces a chat interface that unifies your entire cloud environment across AWS, Azure, GCP, and 80+ other services. Start with simple questions, follow your curiosity through natural conversation, and turn discoveries into repeatable processes. The interface maintains context across questions, provides interactive results you can filter and export, and shows the underlying SQL for transparency and reuse in dashboards or automation.
Guardrails
Turbot Guardrails is now 50% faster through smarter control evaluation
Guardrails now focuses only on controls that matter by materializing only those impacted by policy settings rather than evaluating all possible controls by default. This optimization reduces control evaluations by 50% or more, cuts database and Redis usage by over 50%, and significantly reduces message queue volume. The result is faster page loads, cleaner dashboards highlighting configured controls, and improved reliability at enterprise scale.
The B-sides
These were the Launch Week 10 hits, but plenty of other good things happened during this cycle. Check the B-sides for details!
And that's a wrap!
